Description

Network control and communication is a hot topic. One area of active work in both audio and video circles is the application of AES media protocols AES67, ST 2110 and ST 2059 to wide-area and cloud applications. The companion AES70 standards suite details open control architecture for the audio application of networks, defining a scalable control-protocol architecture for professional media networks.

In this presentation, we will cover media network standards as they apply to production environments, with particular focus on the relevant AES standards: AES67 for audio streaming, AES70 for device control and connection management. We present a first look at AES70‑21, a new member of the AES70 family that defines how to use AES70 for managing stream connections that use AES67 or its sibling SMPTE ST 2110‑30.

We will also present an overview of other recent AES work of interest to SMPTE members.
