Audio & Control Over IP with Stagetec & Delec Routers
From: OCA Alliance
There has been several attempts in the past by a variety of audio manufacturers to create an audio over IP standard. To date, none of these ‘standards’ have seen widespread adoption within the broadcast industry.
The vision within the Mediagroup has always been that any standard which we implement within our NEXUS audio routers and DELEC Intercom routers, need to fulfill the same stringent criteria we impose upon our own protocols – designed for use within Broadcast and other real time live production environments.

About Open Control Architecture
From: OCA Alliance
Designing, deploying and managing professional media networks, such as for concert venues, touring shows, broadcast intercom, etc., can be particularly challenging because of the need to bring together a variety of AV equipment into a unified whole. While much progress has been made over recent years on standardizing signal level communications, there is no industry-standard method for managing the interconnected equipment to efficiently produce the desired results.
These challenges are made even more difficult by the frequent requirements to quickly adapt network configurations for the ad hoc accommodation of other equipment, such as concert tours, guest artists, special events, etc. For AV network managers and users, the optimal configuration needed to achieve artistic and fidelity objectives can be a constantly moving and elusive goal.

Connection Management with AES70
It is now feasible to build IP-network-based professional media systems and studios. Such networks offer great flexibility, but pose an operational challenge: How do we control and manage the enhanced routing capability, especially in multivendor systems?
Today’s media networks need standardized connection management services to help manage devices and their media interfaces and connections. .
Today, there are various media transport protocols available. Some of them include connection management schemes, some don’t. The schemes may incorporate standard elements, but none is fully standardized. They do not interoperate.
The need for a standard connection management solution remains unmet.

OCA MicroDemo
The OCA MicroDemo is a demonstration product developed by OCA Alliance members Focusrite, Attero Tech, and Bosch. Its primary purpose is to prove that OCA can run well in lightweight hardware environments.
OCA is standardized by the Audio Engineering Society as AES70. The MicroDemo meets minimum requirements for AES70 compliance, and provides a small set of OCA-controlled application functions as well.
The finished schematic diagrams, board layouts, and custom software for the MicroDemo will be downloadable from the OCA Alliance website at no charge, and on commercially appropriate licensing terms.

The Vision
OCA is an architecture for connection management and control of media devices over digital networks. It defines a common remote control and discovery language that allows devices from different manufacturers to exchange and respond to device control and audio stream connection information to create interoperability between these devices. OCA is a license-free core technology for network media systems.
